Exporting Dried Fruit to China: GACC Registration, Labelling and Logistics
Demand for premium and healthy snacks is growing fast in China. Market entry, however, is a systematic process requiring manufacturer registration and compliance with standards.
Key takeaways
- Overseas food manufacturers must be registered with GACC (Decree 248).
- Products must comply with GB standards.
- Labels must be in Chinese in line with GB 7718.
- Sea transit to Shanghai is about 28–36 days.
GACC registration
Under Decree No. 248 of the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC), overseas manufacturers exporting food to China must register in its system. Depending on the product category, registration is made via the competent authority or directly.
Standards and labelling
Products must comply with the relevant GB national food safety standards. Labels for prepackaged food must be in Chinese under GB 7718, including product name, ingredients, net quantity, production date, shelf life, origin and the importer in China.
- GACC manufacturer registration number
- Phytosanitary certificate
- Certificate of origin
- Certificate of analysis (COA)
- Chinese label
Requirements for cross-border e-commerce (CBEC) can differ from general trade. Deciding the sales channel early shortens the process.
Logistics
Sea freight from Mersin to Shanghai, Qingdao or Tianjin takes about 28–36 days. Rail via the Middle Corridor offers an alternative for some shipments.
